LeBron James is an American basketball player who is mostly called "King James". With more than 34,000 points, he is in third place in the list with the most points scored in NBA history and is considered one of the most outstanding athletes.

LeBron Raymone James grew up in poor conditions in Ohio. His mother was only 16 years old at the time of his birth, and his father, a former prisoner, had left the family. As a little boy he lived for a long time with his football coach, who also introduced him to basketball.

James showed an extraordinary talent in both sports at an early age and became the most successful high school basketball player in the United States during his school years. As a teenager he appeared on the covers of "SLAM Magazine" and "Sports Illustrated" and attracted NBA stars like Shaquille O‘Neal to games on his school team.

In 2003, James moved directly to the NBA and was brought in from his home club, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even in his first year as a professional, the small forward was convincing and was then voted Newcomer ("Rookie") of the year.

He developed into a leading player and soon became an integral part of the American national team. In 2007 he reached the NBA Finals for the first time, but Cleveland lost to the San Antonio Spurs. Two years later, James was voted "Most Valuable Player" for the first time in the league.

In 2010 the basketball player's contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers ended and James became the NBA's most sought-after player. In order to communicate his decision as to which club he will play for in the future, a special television show entitled "The Decision" was broadcast. In this, the athlete announced that he would switch to the Miami Heat. His decision and its announcement were criticized from many sides and the athlete was insulted as a traitor.

In Miami, James was part of the "Big Three" along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and became the most important player on the team. In 2012 he won his first championship. In 2014, the superstar caused a sensation when he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With his hometown club, he won the NBA title again two years later. This season, James averaged at least 25 points per game (25.3) for the twelfth time in a row, setting a record.

In 2019 he turned his back on Cleveland and joined the Los Angeles Lakers. There he marched into the finals in the 2020 season, which was difficult due to the corona, and met his former club from Miami. On October 11 of that year, the Lakers beat their opponent 106: 93 (64:36) and won their 17th NBA title.

During the current season - and on the evening before Kobe Bryant's accidental death - James scored 29 points in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers in January 2020, overtaking his colleague with a total of 33,655 points in the list of the most successful players in the NBA.

His wife, Savannah Brinson, has known LeBron James since high school. The two have been a couple since 2001 and married in 2013. He is the father of two sons and a daughter.

The top athlete is one of the few professional basketball players who express themselves politically. In 2018, for example, James said in a CNN interview that Donald Trump was dividing American society. He also campaigns for the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
