The tropical plant was named after due to its shape, which resembles the fingers of a hand palm named in the meaning of the palm (see above). Already the Latin palma→ la meant "palm" and "palm". The word spread rapidly through the influence of Christianity (for example "Palm Sunday") to Europe, where palm trees do not occur naturally. Comparisons Palm tree.[1]
