Travel makes a person more creative

Travel makes us better people

Last update: 04 July, 2018

Traveling is a way to break with the ordinary and gain a sense of wellbeing that is brought about through exploration, discovery and surprises. In the past, traveling far away meant major changes in life. It could take months or even years to reach the distant goal. But now that has changed fundamentally. Now we can travel the whole world in a few days and with luck and the right connections we can be on the opposite side of the globe in 24 hours.

By traveling we change our perspective and let a breath of fresh air into our mind. Travel is an invitation to break out of the routine and give parts of ourselves the opportunity to flourish, which cannot flourish in everyday life. We face new challenges and train different skills than those that we usually use.

"Travel kills prejudice, bigotry and bigotry."

Mark Twain

Travel will immerse us in situations that are less predictable, for there is much that is unknown in these new environments. This insecurity can be a source of fear, but even more of excitement and a sense of adventure. Born travelers need that adrenaline; sporadic travelers know this feeling is a reminder of how nice it is to be alive.

When we travel, we move out of our comfort zone. We allow ourselves to broaden our horizons. But the best thing is that we also stimulate our intellectual capacities, which makes us more creative and supports us in developing important social and emotional skills such as tolerance.

Travel awakens creativity

It is said that a trip is enjoyed in three ways: when we plan it, when we are on the move and when we remember it. All three phases require a great deal of creativity.

  • First of all, we have to choose a destination, be clear about our desires, define what we are looking for.
  • But creativity shouldn't fall by the wayside, even on the journey itself. We go to unknown places, or at least to places that we usually do not go to. We will notice that we have to adapt to many situations: to traditions and customs, tastes, smells and noises, to a different way of being together and a foreign language.
  • In order to preserve our experiences, we want to choose the best way to organize our memories and give them meaning. We experience them again, reflecting and interpreting what we have lived.

All of these activities are synonymous with complex mental activity. As if we were writing a book, painting a painting. The organization and implementation of a trip requires certain intellectual skills, openness and curiosity. For these reasons, after we travel, we are never the same person as we were before. The experiences we gain while traveling are intense and stimulating and that is exactly why it is so beneficial to be on the move.

Travel makes us better people

Those who leave their comfort zone are guaranteed enriching experiences. As the saying goes, reading will eliminate fascism and travel will eliminate intolerance. Traveling frees you from prejudice, especially when we go to places where we immerse ourselves in a culture that is alien to ours or that offers a great contrast to our daily routine. We should not catalog differences from top to bottom, but look at them on one level. No culture is better or worse, just different.

It is also proven that People who travel at least twice a year have a lower risk of developing depression. The fact is, travel is a cure for mental illness because, one way or another, it makes us see the world in a new light. It's like a rejuvenating bath that allows us to renew our perspective on reality and ourselves.

Traveling also helps to get in touch with ourselves and with ourselves. It frees us from our ordinary surroundings, makes it easier for those ideas and emotions that are normally in the background to emerge. On the go, all the daily excuses and inhibiting influences no longer apply.

It is one thing to look at life through the lens of stressful everyday life and quite another to enjoy it during a break that allows us to travel. Because we learn on the go, travel makes us better people. It renews us, gives us strength and makes it possible to fill our lives with color and magic.

Never doubt that travel brings you closer to your goals.
